CBS introduces new course in Romania to address leadership challenges in Black Sea region

Copenhagen Business School (CBS) announces that it will be offering a new Summer School course in ‘Shipping and Port Leadership’ to be held in Constanta, Romania from 8-12 September 2025.

“In collaboration with the Bucharest Business School and in an effort to enhance the Eastern European Blue Economy, we have designed a one-week global shipping and port strategy course to face the challenges of the Black Sea area, South East Europe and Danube,” says Irene Rosberg (pictured), Director of the Executive MBA in Shipping and Logistics (The Blue MBA) course at CBS.

“This would be a hands-on programme aiming at upskilling those involved in the maritime industry in the Eastern Europe and bringing some of the regional players in the industry together and provide them with the tools to face the challenges and stay competitive,” she adds.

Romania has undergone radical development of its maritime sector in recent years, including a shifting of port activities from neighbouring Ukraine on account of the conflict in that country.  

Course contents will include:

Day 1: ‘Introduction & Strategy Foundations’. Introduction to business cases and the first basic strategy module. Participants meet in business case groups.

Day 2: ‘Strategic Concepts & Port Economics’. Lecture on strategic models, port-specific economics, and trading principles.

Day 3: ‘Case Development & Consultation’. Group work and consultation on selected strategy models to be used in the case study.

Day 4: ‘Executive Presence & Pitch Preparation’. Course on executive presence – what it means and the basic principles of delivering a business case pitch. Continued interactive lecturing and group work.

Day 5: ‘Case Study: The Danube & Port of Constanța’ Focus on the Danube River’s role as critical infrastructure in connection with the Port of Constanța, highlighting how it supports the port’s transformation into one of Europe’s fastest growing and globally impactful trade hubs.
