New shipping service introduced between Jeddah, Sudan, Djibouti and UAE

The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced the launch of the new shipping service RSX1, operated by GOODRICH, at Jeddah Islamic Port (JIP).

The RSX1 service connects JIP with three key regional and international ports: Port Sudan in Sudan, Djibouti Port in Djibouti, and Jebel Ali Port in the UAE, with a handling capacity of 720 TEUs.

This initiative aligns with Mawani’s efforts to boost Saudi Arabia’s standing in global performance indicators and to promote national export growth. It also supports the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to position the Kingdom as a global logistics hub connecting three continents.

Mawani says that JIP is one of the region’s most prominent ports in terms of capacity, handling up to 130 million tons annually. The port features advanced infrastructure, including 62 multipurpose berths, as well as specialised terminals — two container terminals, two general cargo terminals, two dry docks for vessel repair and maintenance, and a variety of berths dedicated to marine services.
