City of Glasgow College announced as Academic Partner for LISW25

London International Shipping Week 2025 (LISW25) is proud to announce City of Glasgow College as its official Academic Partner, strengthening the week’s focus on maritime education, skills, and innovation.

As one of the UK’s leading maritime education and training institutions, City of Glasgow College is recognised worldwide for its state-of-the-art facilities and pioneering approach to preparing the next generation of seafarers, maritime engineers, and industry professionals. Through its role as Academic Partner, the College will contribute to LISW25’s diverse programme of discussions, forums, and events, ensuring that education and skills development remain central to conversations about the industry’s future.

The partnership will highlight the College’s commitment to advancing maritime learning through cutting-edge simulation technologies, sustainable practices, and close collaboration with industry. It will also give students and faculty unique opportunities to engage directly with international leaders, policy-makers, and innovators attending LISW25.

Paul Little CBE (pictured), Principal & Chief Executive of City of Glasgow College, commented: "We are proud to have a long-established partnership with London International Shipping Week – where, at LISW23, as Chair of the UK Shipbuilding Skills Taskforce, I had the privilege of launching the independent report A Step Change in UK Shipbuilding Skills – and we are honoured to be this year’s academic sponsor, championing skills development across the sector. City of Glasgow College is recognised worldwide as a Maritime Centre of Excellence, training some 40% of the UK’s Merchant Navy officers.

“We continue to invest in our world-class facilities, including the introduction of Europe’s most advanced Wärtsilä shipping bridge simulator suites, giving our cadets hands-on experience with industry-leading technology providing them with the skills to excel both on shore and at sea."

Welcoming City of Glasgow College to LISW25, Sean Moloney, co-founder and joint CEO of London International Shipping Week, said: “We are delighted to welcome City of Glasgow College as our Academic Partner for LISW25. Education and skills are the lifeblood of the maritime sector, and the College’s reputation for excellence in training and innovation makes them an ideal partner. Their involvement will ensure that the next generation of maritime professionals is firmly represented in the global conversations that LISW25 inspires.”

LISW25 will take place from 15 -19 September, bringing together the world’s maritime community for a week of high-level events, industry forums, and international collaboration.
