Fincantieri delivers ‘Viking Vesta’ small cruise vessel in Ancona

Italian yard group Fincantieri is pleased to announce the successful delivery of ‘Viking Vesta’, the second in a new series of small cruise ships being built for Viking, at its Ancona shipyard.

With a gross tonnage of approximately 54,300 tonnes and 499 cabins accommodating 998 guests, ‘Viking Vesta’ marks the 14th vessel delivered to Viking, strengthening a long-standing partnership that now spans 28 units, either delivered, under construction, or on order.

This latest milestone confirms Fincantieri’s leadership in the premium small cruise ship segment, reflecting the strong demand for more intimate and sustainable travel experiences. All Viking ships are equipped with high-efficiency engines, advanced energy-saving technologies, and systems that meet the most stringent environmental standards.

The partnership continues to innovate: ‘Viking Libra’—currently under construction in Ancona and due for delivery in late 2026—will be the world’s first cruise ship powered by hydrogen stored on board, enabling zero-emission operations even in environmentally sensitive areas. Her sister ship, ‘Viking Astrea’, will follow in 2027, further advancing maritime decarbonisation.
