ExpressMarine 6.0 adds OCX export – tested successfully by Bureau Veritas

B&A Software announces the release of ExpressMarine 6.0, the latest version of its powerful parametric structure modeling software for marine designers. This release marks a significant milestone with the introduction of native export to OCX format (https://3docx.org/en/), enabling seamless integration with classification societies, shipyards, and engineering partners. The OCX export dataset has been successfully tested by Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV), a world leader in testing, inspection, and certification.

The OCX (Open Class eXchange) standard is increasingly adopted across the maritime industry as a trusted and efficient way to exchange 3D structure models and information. By supporting direct OCX export, ExpressMarine ensures designers and engineers can deliver accurate, up-to-date structural data in a standardized format, reducing manual work and minimizing the risk of errors.  In particular, the fact that the 3D OCX data set is a one-to-one, definition-based representation of the source 3D model ensure consistency and accuracy while eliminating the use of the legacy, very resource-expensive and error-prone 2D drawings altogether.

The successful testing by BV confirms that ExpressMarine 6.0 delivers reliable and compliant data exchange to meet the industry’s evolving digital requirements and, more specifically, Class review and approval of structure designs.

"With ExpressMarine 6.0, we are making a major step forward in supporting the OCX open standard in the maritime industry," said Runar Aasen, Managing Director, B&A Software AS. "The confirmation from BV reinforces our commitment to providing our users with tools that not only streamline their design process but also align with the latest digital collaboration practices."
