Idwal appoints Rebecca Sperti as Chief Commercial Officer to accelerate global growth

Global vessel assurance specialist Idwal has announced the appointment of Rebecca Sperti as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). Rebecca joined the business on Monday 23rd February and is based at Idwal’s headquarters in Cardiff Bay.

Rebecca is a highly experienced commercial leader with a strong track record of shaping and delivering customer-led growth strategies within technology-enabled service businesses. Her background spans sales, marketing and commercial operations, with specific expertise in building high-performing teams and scalable go-to-market models in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.

Rebecca joins Idwal from a leading supply chain compliance business in South Wales, where she played a key role in strengthening commercial capability and driving disciplined, data-led growth. While new to the maritime sector, her experience aligns closely with Idwal’s operating model and its ambition to build a leading global maritime brand, leveraging technology, data and service excellence.
In her new role as CCO, Rebecca will lead Idwal’s global commercial organisation across the UK, Europe and Asia, with responsibility for sales, marketing, customer success and commercial strategy. Her appointment comes at a pivotal stage in Idwal’s growth journey, as the company continues to expand its inspection intelligence platform and enhance the value delivered to shipowners, charterers, financiers and insurers worldwide.

Nick Owens, CEO of Idwal, commented: “Following an extensive search process, we are delighted to appoint Rebecca as our Chief Commercial Officer. She brings significant experience in building and scaling commercial functions within growing technology-enabled businesses, alongside a clear customer-first mindset. As we continue to strengthen our commercial capability to support future growth, Rebecca’s leadership will be instrumental in aligning our go-to-market strategy, enhancing customer value and ensuring we are well positioned for the next phase of expansion.”

Commenting on her appointment, Rebecca Sperti said: “I’m delighted to be joining Idwal at such an exciting stage in its journey. The maritime industry is navigating increasing regulatory, ESG and transparency demands, and high-quality, aggregated inspection insight has never been more important.

“Idwal has built a strong global reputation, a compelling product and an exceptional team. I’m looking forward to working closely with colleagues, customers and partners to further harness the power of data and insight to support smarter, more informed decision-making across the sector.”

Headquartered in Cardiff Bay in the UK, Idwal provides independent vessel inspection data and intelligence supporting a significant proportion of vessels transacting globally. By transforming single-point inspections into aggregated, benchmarked insight, Idwal enables more transparent risk assessment and proactive decision-making across the maritime ecosystem.

Rebecca’s appointment further strengthens Idwal’s executive team and reinforces the company’s commitment to accelerating growth, enhancing commercial excellence and delivering meaningful value to the global maritime industry.
