Latest update on ‘MKD Vyom’ incident off Oman issued

V.Ships Asia, managers of the Marshall Islands-flagged product tanker ‘MKD Vyom’ (IMO 9284386), would like to provide an update following the explosion and subsequent fire, which occurred after the vessel was struck by a suspected projectile while off the coast of Muscat, Oman, on 1 March 2026.

All crew members have now been safely disembarked from the assisting vessel involved in the rescue operation and are ashore in Oman.

The company’s deepest condolences remain with the family of the deceased crew member, and it is continuing to provide all necessary support.

Tugboats arrived on scene at approximately 1300 LT on 2 March to engage in firefighting operations and have since successfully extinguished the fire.

The vessel is reported to be in a safe and stable condition, and preparations are currently underway for the tugboats to tow her to a designated port of refuge, where she will undergo further inspection and any necessary repairs.

There continues to be no reports of pollution.
