ABB’s voyage and route optimisation to be offered on Oceanly Performance platform
Oceanly, a maritime technology company providing vessel performance, data management and fleet optimization solutions and ABB, a global technology leader in electrification and automation, are collaborating to give shipowners and operators a more integrated approach to vessel performance, voyage optimisation, asset monitoring and energy efficiency. The collaboration brings together Oceanly's expertise in high-frequency vessel data, performance and emissions monitoring and analytics with ABB's extensive capabilities in marine technology, voyage optimization, automation, electrification and lifecycle management solutions.
A key initial element is the integration of ABB's voyage and route optimisation capabilities directly into the Oceanly Performance platform. This will allow ship operators to combine advanced voyage optimisation with vessel performance monitoring, high-frequency operational data and performance analytics — all within one integrated environment.
Oceanly Performance collects and analyses high-frequency operational data from onboard systems, providing detailed insight into vessel behavior under actual operating conditions. Combining that insight with ABB's advanced route and speed optimisation will enable operators to draw on a more complete picture of actual vessel performance when making voyage and operational decisions, with the objective of reducing fuel consumption, emissions and operating costs. This opens potential for a continuous optimisation cycle: measure actual performance, optimize the voyage, monitor the results and use the new data to continuously improve future decisions, streamlining the workflow from crew to shore side.
The collaboration will combine ABB's expertise in asset monitoring, lifecycle management and remote technical support with Oceanly's high frequency data collection, alerts and alarm capabilities. Together, these capabilities can support fast and flexible cross platform integrations. This will enable shipowners to better understand equipment condition, identify potential issues earlier and make more informed decisions about their options in predictive maintenance strategies.
A further area of collaboration connects ABB's onboard energy-efficiency technologies with Oceanly's vessel data and analytics capabilities.
High-frequency data and performance analytics provide the operational insight needed to identify efficiency opportunities and analyse the effect of measures once implemented. This creates an important link between technology and verification: implementing an energy-efficiency measure and using actual operational data to understand and quantify the resulting improvement.
The broader objective is to connect areas of vessel optimisation that have traditionally been handled through separate systems.
By bringing together high-frequency vessel data, performance analytics, voyage optimisation, asset diagnostics and onboard technology, Oceanly and ABB aim to create a more comprehensive approach to vessel efficiency. The cooperation is expected to expand as the collaboration progresses.
