Kaiko Systems launches industry-first digital tool for shore-based vessel inspections

Leading AI-powered data collection and analysis platform, Kaiko Systems, has launched Shore Reports, a dedicated digital inspection platform designed specifically for superintendents and vessel managers.

Designed to eliminate the inefficiencies of outdated inspection workflows, shore reports provide a fully customisable and seamlessly integrated mobile platform for onshore professional vessel inspection and reporting.

While many aspects of vessel operations have undergone successful digital transformation in recent years, shore-based inspections have remained largely manual. Superintendents typically rely on handwritten notes, standalone photos, spreadsheets and word documents. The process is slow, fragmented, and prone to inconsistencies, often requiring hours of post-inspection formatting and follow-up while they have to jump to other vessels to conduct inspection. This creates a backlog of inspection reports to be finalised with existing digital tools such as ERPs and PMS platforms which are too rigid or complex to adapt effectively to these workflows, Kaiko says,

Using Shore Reports, inspectors can now conduct onboard visits with a mobile app that works both online and offline, enabling them to document observations in real time and capture unexpected issues without disruption. Inspection data is automatically structured and compiled and once the visit is complete, the technical superintendent can review and refine their input through a simple, web-based dashboard. The result is a polished, professional-grade PDF report that includes a structured summary of observations, and high-resolution photo documentation, delivered instantly via the Kaiko Systems dashboard.

“Shore team inspections have been overlooked for too long within the digital services sector” said Fabian Fussek (pictured), Co-Founder and CEO of Kaiko Systems. “We worked closely with superintendents to design Shore Reports around how inspections are conducted and how a digital product can make the job easier. This is not about re-inventing workflows, but about giving teams a tool that fits the job they are doing and helps them work faster, smarter, and with better visibility.”

In addition to reducing the administrative workload, Shore Reports can integrate directly into maintenance and procurement systems via Kaiko’s API, enabling real-time follow-up on critical issues and reducing turnaround times.

The system supports a range of inspection and audit types, including superintendent visits, dry dock inspections, internal ISM and environmental audits, and reviews of navigation and cargo operations. Forms can be adapted to vessel type, inspection category, or company protocols, allowing for consistency across fleets without sacrificing flexibility.
