Eleven seafarers missing after general cargo ship sunk by drone off Bulgaria
, A general cargo ship has been sunk and 11 seafarers are missing aftera drone attack took place off the coast of Bulgaria, reports Reuterstoday. This follows the sinking of another ship off Bulgaria earlier this month and signals a further escalation of the Russia-Ukraine conflict in the Black Sea region, with the identities of the responsible parties for the strikes remaining unclear,
The sunken vessel was the Guinea-Bissau-flagged, 8,642 dwt general cargo ship HS Dignity (previously known as My Future), built in 2002, which went down off the village of Krapets. An urgent search and rescue operation for the missing crew was carried out, with one seafarer saved, but the search has now been called off, Bulgarian authorities have reported.
A second general cargo vessel, the Maltese-flagged Chelsea 3, was also reportedly hit by drones off Bulgaria, with the crew all evacuated.
