CMA CGM and DSV strengthen partnership to accelerate low-carbon shipping through ACT+

CMA CGM and logistics giant DSV have signed an agreement under which DSV will use CMA CGM’s ACT+ low-carbon shipping solution to support a targeted reduction of 12,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions over two years. These emissions reductions will be achieved through the use of low-carbon fuels, namely second-generation UCOME-based biofuels.

As part of its commitment to achieving Net Zero Carbon by 2050, CMA CGM has developed ACT+, its range of low-carbon transport solutions designed to help customers reduce their CO₂ emissions. Through this agreement, DSV will benefit from ACT +, which can help reduce CO₂ emissions by 83% compared to conventional shipping fuel, through the use of low-carbon fuels.

This partnership reinforces the long-standing relationship between CMA CGM and DSV and supports DSVs commitment to reaching net-zero emissions across its own operations and value chain by 2050. It also reflects a growing market trend, with DSV joining an increasing number of leading companies choosing or renewing their commitment to ACT+ as part of their decarbonisation strategies.

A pioneer in the decarbonisation of maritime transport, CMA CGM was the first shipping company to make a large-scale commitment to LNG propulsion for ultra-large container vessels, following a strategic decision taken by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rodolphe Saadé in 2017. This commitment led to the delivery in 2020 of the CMA CGM Jacques Saadé, the world’s first 23,000-TEU LNG-powered container ship. Since then, CMA CGM has continued to accelerate its transition, launching ACT with CMA CGM+ in 2020 and, in 2026, the CMA CGM NOTRE DAME, the largest containership currently operating under the French flag and the first in a series of ten new-generation 24,212-TEU LNG-powered vessels. By 2031, CMA CGM expects to operate around 200 dual-fuel LNG and methanol-powered vessels capable of using low-carbon energies. These initiatives are part of CMA CGM’s broader decarbonisation strategy, which aims to achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2050 through improved energy efficiency, the accelerated adoption of low-carbon energies and close collaboration with customers, suppliers and industry stakeholders.

"At DSV, reducing emissions across global supply chains requires strong collaboration and scalable solutions,” said Michael Hollstein, DSV, SVP Global Ocean Product. “Through our partnership with CMA CGM and the use of the ACT+ solution, we are expanding access to lower-carbon shipping options for our customers. This agreement reflects our shared commitment to advancing lower-carbon transport and helping customers achieve their sustainability goals."

Amandine PAULET, Vice President and Deputy Chief Commercial Officer, CMA CGM, said, "Our partnership demonstrates how strong collaboration drives more resilient and sustainable logistics, while delivering high-performance solutions for our customers. We are proud to do so with DSV - together, building the future of shipping."
