Smart Ship Hub brings sustainability conversation beyond shipping with screening of ‘All the World Is Green’

Smart Ship Hub, the maritime intelligence platform specialising in the collection and analysis of high-frequency maritime data, has hosted the screening of the internationally acclaimed documentary ‘All the World Is Green’ in collaboration with the Chellaram Foundation

Following successful screenings in Singapore and Hong Kong, the invitation-only event marked the documentary's showing in India. Held at the Royal Western India Turf Club in Pune, it attracted shipowners, maritime executives, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, academics and sustainability advocates for discussions on the links between environmental stewardship, human health, nutrition and responsible leadership.

While Smart Ship Hub is recognised globally for helping shipowners improve operational performance, emissions monitoring and regulatory compliance through maritime intelligence, the company believes sustainability must extend beyond vessel operations. The documentary explores the relationship between food systems, human health, environmental sustainability and compassionate living, examining how everyday choices can have far-reaching consequences for people, animals and the planet.

The event was organised in collaboration with the Chellaram Foundation, whose work spans healthcare, education, nutrition and community development. Proceedings opened with a recorded address from Lal Chellaram, Chairman of the Chellaram Group, highlighting the importance of collective action in addressing global health and sustainability challenges. Dr Manjusha Ghumare, Head of the Chellaram Women's Health Centre, concluded the evening by discussing the relationship between preventive healthcare, nutrition and lifestyle choices.

"Shipping is undergoing one of the biggest transformations in its history as the industry embraces digitalisation and decarbonisation," said Joy Basu, CEO of Smart Ship Hub. "Technology is a critical part of that journey, but sustainability is ultimately about people and the choices we make. As a business, we believe we have a responsibility not only to develop technologies that make shipping cleaner and more efficient, but also to encourage wider conversations that contribute to healthier communities and a more sustainable future."

Audience feedback demonstrated the documentary's strong impact. Nearly 90% of attendees described the film as having a strong or life-changing effect, while 84% said they were likely to increase their adoption of plant-based dietary choices following the screening. Participants praised the documentary for encouraging thoughtful discussion around health, environmental sustainability and individual responsibility.

For Smart Ship Hub, the initiative reflects a broader philosophy that businesses can create value beyond their core products and services by fostering collaboration across sectors.

As the maritime industry continues its transition towards cleaner and more intelligent operations, the company believes meaningful sustainability will require both technological innovation and individual action. By bringing together stakeholders from diverse industries, Smart Ship Hub hopes to encourage conversations that inspire positive change both within and beyond maritime.
