OneOcean signs digital solutions MOU with Samsung Heavy Industries

Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), a leader in shipbuilding and offshore industry construction, and OneOcean, the digital solutions provider owned by Lloyd’s Register, have signed an MOU to cooperate on digital and data solution technologies. 

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing took place at KORMARINE, the international maritime and energy exhibition in Busan, Korea on 22 October.  



The ceremony was attended by representatives from SHI, including Mr. Haeki Jang, Executive Vice President, Chief Technology Officer SHI, Mr. Hyun Joe Kim, Vice President, Director, Ship Outfitting Design Team, SHI and Mr. Sunghak Lee, Director, Digital Business Team together with Mr. Takashi Nakagawa, Managing Director Japan, OneOcean and Ms. Anna Ruszczynska, Regional Sales Director APAC, OneOcean.



The MOU will establish data sharing and machine learning/AI innovation between SHI and OneOcean to enable lifespan performance modelling, and enhanced voyage optimisation services with boil-off gas models for SHI-built vessels—driving future design improvements. Building on a strong heritage in vessel modelling, the collaboration will enhance the accuracy and sophistication of existing models, further reinforcing OneOcean’s leadership in data-driven vessel performance and optimisation.



The MOU builds on SHI’s long-held relationship with Lloyd’s Register classification and advisory services and recognises OneOcean’s industry-leading expertise in this sector.
