Britannia P&I Club to host webinar on seafarer mental wellbeing

The Loss Prevention team at Britannia P&I Club will host its latest webinar on Tuesday 24 February, addressing critical mental health challenges affecting crews such as bullying, harassment, job insecurity, isolation, and fatigue.

Led by Capt. Charles Chong, Associate Director, Loss Prevention at Britannia, and Dr. Joanna Eugenia Bakouri, Learning & Development Manager at Maersk Training, the webinar entitled  ‘Unlocking the Drivers of Seafarer Mental Wellbeing’ combines operational and learning expertise to provide actionable insights and guidance, including discussions on the training required for Members to better support crews and comply with the forthcoming STCW requirements.

Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of:

  • Less visible wellbeing risks at senior and organisational levels

  • Cultural and hierarchical barriers that prevent seafarers from speaking up

  • What it truly means to be trauma-informed

  • How trauma affects communication, trust, and reporting behaviour

  • Early warning signs linked to bullying, harassment, and intimidation

  • Turning awareness into targeted, effective training and interventions
