AVS Global Ship Supply celebrates International Women’s Day by highlighting women in leadership
Ahead of International Women’s Day (8 March), AVS Global Ship Supply is spotlighting a standout achievement in a traditionally male-dominated sector: women now hold more than half of the company’s managerial roles. The milestone underscores AVS Global Ship Supply’s firm commitment to gender equality and reflects a corporate culture built on trust, professionalism, and collaboration which continues to drive its global success.
At AVS Global Ship Supply, headquartered in Istanbul, Türkiye, women are not only part of the workforce — they are leaders driving growth, building departments, strengthening global partnerships, and setting new standards across operations.
Speaking about International Women’s Day, Cansu Fazlıoğlu (pictured), Global Supply Manager, emphasised the importance of confidence and mentorship in career growth: “Women should never define any position as a ‘man’s job’. When women move forward with determination and self-belief, they achieve results that are just as strong, if not stronger. Giving knowledge, responsibility, and support is how both people and organisations truly grow.”
Cansu highlighted how women are raising professional standards in global ship supply, contributing to more structured communication, formal business practices, and long-term value creation across the industry.
Buket Özergen, Vendor Collaboration Manager, underscored the power of communication and perspective, saying: “This industry is not about physical strength, it’s about resilience and solution-oriented thinking. Communication is everything. Every conversation can be the key to solving the most complex operation.”
For Buket, this year’s theme, Give to Gain, represents leadership through value creation and collective success. “True success is not reaching the top alone, but how many people you bring with you,” she said.
Sevda Güler, Catering Management Manager, said her journey at AVS Global Ship Supply had been built on trust and long-term commitment: “What started as an unexpected entry into the maritime industry turned into a 13-year career because someone believed in my potential early on. Building a department from scratch and watching it grow into a sustainable operation has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my professional life.”
She highlighted emotional intelligence, empathy, and consistency as strengths women naturally bring to leadership — qualities that are essential in complex, high-pressure industries such as ship supply and logistics.
AVS Global Ship Supply’s leadership culture is rooted in trust, responsibility, and opportunity, regardless of gender. The company recognises that diverse leadership teams create stronger decision-making, higher professional standards, and more sustainable growth.
Vahit Şimşek, Chairman of AVS Global Ship Supply, said: “On this International Women’s Day, AVS Global Ship Supply proudly honours not only the achievements of its women leaders, but also the countless women across the maritime and logistics sectors whose resilience, dedication, and professionalism continue to move the industry forward.”
