International Shipsuppliers & Services Association (ISSA) statement following announcement of US-Iran agreement
Rafael Fernandez, President of the International Shipsuppliers & Services Association (ISSA), said:
“The agreement to cease hostilities and reopen the Strait of Hormuz is very good news for those vessels stuck in the Gulf since the start of the hostilities. The safety of the vessels and the wellbeing of the 20,000 seafarers onboard the ships is at the forefront of everyone’s thoughts. It is also good news for those companies based in the UAE who have had to operate in very difficult conditions.
“I would like to offer my heartfelt appreciation to the ship supply companies based in the region who have worked tirelessly to ensure the seafarers are fed and watered. Shipping and trade are essential to our everyday lives, and every effort must be taken to ensure that the agreement that has been struck, is here to stay.”
