Dualog launches new app to deliver fair and secure internet access for seafarers
Dualog has launched ‘Quota’, a next-generation app designed to give crew a fairer, more transparent and secure internet access at sea. The new solution replaces Dualog’s Crew Connection service, offering a modern, mobile-optimised interface that works seamlessly with any airtime provider or carrier.
By centralising internet management across fleets, shipping companies can increase transparency, control airtime costs, and strengthen onboard cybersecurity. Through the Quota app, seafarers can monitor their data and time usage, manage multiple devices, top up data through self-service, and choose their preferred carrier. The app is available for Android and iOS devices and can also be accessed via any modern web browser.
“Our goal was to make life easier for crew, vessel managers, and the IT department,” said Vidar Berg, Product Manager at Dualog. “Quota empowers crew to manage their own data, reduces support needs, and improves compliance with security policies.”
Quota integrates with Dualog’s existing internet management ecosystem, including network control and DNS protection tools, and supports all major LEO and bandwidth management setups such as Starlink and VSAT. This unified approach allows companies to maintain secure, cost-controlled networks while giving crew greater autonomy and flexibility.
“Fair access to the internet is a fundamental part of crew welfare,” said Silje Moan, Chief Commercial Officer at Dualog. “With Quota, seafarers have a single, consistent user experience - even when airtime vendors are fragmented. That’s why we’re seeing such strong interest from the market.”
Looking ahead, Dualog plans to expand the platform with new capabilities, including personal speed throttling to optimise bandwidth for streaming, custom branding and terms, and enhanced configuration options for fleet IT teams.
With the launch of Quota, Dualog reinforces its role as a trusted IT and connectivity partner to the maritime sector, helping operators enhance crew welfare, simplify vessel operations, and protect digital infrastructure at sea.
