DP World issues Jebel Ali update
Amid ongoing missile strikes on port terminals and energy infrastructure across the Middle East region and effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, DP World reports that all terminals at Jebel Ali Port in Dubai are operating normally. The company says that it continues to monitor developments closely and remains in close coordination with the relevant authorities.
“Enhanced safety and security measures remain in place across the port,” sates DP World. “The safety and wellbeing of our people, customers and partners remain our top priority.
Jebel Ali Port is the largest port in the Middle East, serving as a critical gateway for trade across Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas. Its four terminals handle over 15 million TEUs a year of container cargo, along with significant volumes of bulk, breakbulk and Ro-Ro cargo.
Separately, US authorities have suggested that naval escorts of ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz might be one option to allow trade in and out of the Gulf to continue.
