BV to explore setting up a global innovation hub in Singapore
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) reports that it is strengthening its partnership with Bureau Veritas Group to deepen collaboration in maritime digitalisation, decarbonisation and talent development, through a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
This renewed MoU, signed by MPA Chief Executive Mr Eng Dih Teo and BV Group CEO Ms Hinda Gharbi, will explore the establishment of a BV global innovation hub in Singapore, focusing on emerging technologies with multi-industry impact, including cybersecurity standards and fuel cell systems integration.
The partnership is intended to drive several key initiatives in digitalisation and decarbonisation, including:
- Smart ship systems development
- AI-enhanced vessel inspection
- Robotics for in-water applications
- Adoption of zero and near-zero GHG emission fuels
- Advancement in electrification and wind-assisted propulsion
As part of its commitment to nurturing maritime talent in Singapore, BV will continue its active participation in key industry manpower programmes. Through the MPA Global Internship Award, MaritimeONE Singapore Internship and Scholarship programmes, and the Career Conversion Programme, BV aims to attract and nurture maritime professionals, further contributing to maritime talent in Singapore.
