Baltic Hub awarded nearly $60 million in funding under FEnIKSprogramme

Baltic Hub Container Terminal has signed an agreement with theCentre for EU Transport Projects, securing PLN 220.6 million (USD 58 million) in funding for the electrification and modernisation of its container terminal in Gdańsk. The grant covers nearly 40% of thetotal investment value, estimated at PLN 554 million.

The investment will focus on the electrification of terminal operations, expansion of rail infrastructure, and deployment of advanced digital and monitoring systems. These measures will increase terminal capacity, improve the efficiency of intermodal transport flows, and reduce the environmental footprint of operations. The programme includes procurement of additional quay and yard cranes and the electric prime mover fleet as well as the construction works related to the railway siding apron.

The funding was awarded under the 2025 call for intermodal transport projects within the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment (FEnIKS) 2021–2027 programme.

“Signing this agreement marks an important milestone in Baltic Hub’s development, in line with PSA Group’s Node to Network strategy,” said Jan Van Mossevelde, CEO of Baltic Hub. “This investment will boost our position as a key port ecosystem in Central and Eastern Europe, while accelerating our transition towards more sustainable and efficient operations.”

As one of the largest deep-water container terminal in Central and Eastern Europe, Baltic Hub plays a key role in international supply chains and the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). The project will benefit a broad range of stakeholders, including shipping

lines, logistics operators, rail carriers and customers across the region, by enabling more efficient, reliable and sustainable transport solutions.

Implementation of the programme will be carried out in phases, with works expected to begin following the completion of procurement procedures.
