AVS Global Supply celebrates IMO International Day of Women in Maritime with focus on breast health
In celebration of the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) International Day of Women in Maritime (18 May), AVS Global Supply, a global leader in ship supply and maritime services, has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting women across the industry - not only in their professional journeys but in their overall wellbeing.
As part of this commitment, AVS presented a special online seminar titled ‘Breast Health & Healthy Living’, developed in collaboration with the MEVA Breast Cancer Foundation of Turkey. The session reflects AVS’s holistic approach to employee and client care, emphasising the importance of health awareness alongside professional empowerment.
The webinar took place on Friday 16 May and was led by Dr. Can Gürbüz, President of MEVA ending with a Q&A segment, creating space for open discussion and practical guidance on early breast cancer detection and healthy lifestyle habits.
Employees and clients were also able to invite family and friends to participate in the webinar and learn more about the important topic.
“This initiative is a reflection of our belief that true support goes beyond the workplace,” said Abdülvahit Şimşek (pictured), Chairman of AVS Global Supply. “By promoting awareness and access to health education, we aim to contribute to the long-term wellbeing of the incredible women who drive progress in the maritime sector.”
In line with this year’s IMO theme, ‘An Ocean of Opportunities for Women,’ AVS Global Supply continues to champion inclusion, care, and community at every level. The “Breast Health & Healthy Living” seminar is a gesture of appreciation and solidarity — recognising that empowered, healthy individuals are at the heart of a sustainable maritime future.
