China Classification Society joins LISW25 as an international partner

China Classification Society (CCS), one of the world’s leading classification organisations, has joined London International Shipping Week 2025 (LISW25) as an international partner, reaffirming its commitment to safety, sustainability, and innovation in the global maritime industry.

As an international partner, CCS will actively contribute to the week’s discussions on maritime digitalisation, decarbonisation, and regulatory evolution and will be a key participant in the Global Hub at County Hall – a first for LISW, providing a focal point for maritime delegations.

“CCS is delighted to join LISW25, embracing this global platform to collaborate with industry partners to advance safety, sustainability and technological innovation – shaping a smarter, greener future for shipping,” said Zhao Yan (pictured), Chairman and President of CCS.

CCS’s participation in LISW25 underscores its commitment to working with global partners to tackle key challenges in the maritime industry and during the week-long event (15th-19th September), CCS’ highly skilled team of specialists will participate in various forums, panel discussions, and networking events, sharing insights on key industry challenges including decarbonisation, digitalisation, and regulatory compliance. It will also highlight its innovative approaches to vessel classification, technical research, and sustainable shipping practices.
CCS also looks forward to connecting with shipowners, operators, tech providers, and regulators to help create faster, smarter, and more sustainable shipping solutions.

Welcoming CCS as an international partner, Llewellyn Bankes-Hughes, co-founder and joint-CEO of LISW, said: “We are honoured to welcome China Classification Society as a valued international partner of LISW25. CCS brings world-class expertise and a clear vision for a smarter, safer, and more sustainable maritime industry – values that align closely with the themes of LISW25.”

Headquartered in China, CCS operates 13 branch offices across major European maritime hubs including London, Hamburg, Rotterdam, and Piraeus, offering technical excellence and regionally tailored solutions. CCS is recognised for its leadership in ship classification, marine technology research, and sustainable shipping practices.
