CMA CGM signs partnership agreement with Kenya, renews its long-term commitment to Africa
In the presence of the Presidents of the French and Kenyan Republics, CMA CGM Group has signed a strategic partnership agreement to collaborate in the development of major transport and logistics infrastructure in Kenya. The signing by CMA CGM Group Chairman and CEO Rodolphe Saade, in the presence of Mr Emmanuel Macron and Mr William Ruto (pictured), took place at the Africa Forward Summit co-hosted by France and Kenya in Nairobi last week.
The move followed the inauguration in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, of the CMA CGM Group's Africa Regional Office on April 23, marking a further step in Africa's Strategy and confirming its long-term investment strategy in Africa focused on port infrastructure, logistics integration and decarbonisation.
The CMA CGM Foundation also announced two new projects in Kenya: the expansion of a training centre in partnership with the Kenyan Red Cross and the French Embassy, and the renovation of a football field for the University of Nairobi.
CMA CGM Group has been present in Kenya since 2005 and continues to play a key role in the country’s logistics ecosystem, connecting Mombasa and Lamu to global markets and supporting inland corridors across East Africa.
