CDV Wealth: Giving seafarers total control of their money
Circle Digital Ventures (CircleDV), a Singapore-based technology company focused on improving the lives of seafarers, has launched CDV Wealth, a new financial platform that finally makes money management at sea easy.
For too long, seafarers have relied on cash payments, delayed remittances with opaque money transfer costs, and complex offshore accounts. CDV Wealth changes that by giving them one digital wallet for life that moves with them from ship to ship and company to company.
Features such as automated savings, investments, and goal-based plans are also under development to help seafarers build long-term financial security.
“Seafarers move the world’s trade, but their ability to manage their money while at sea has not moved with the digital age,” said Meei Wong (pictured, photo: CircleDV), Founder & CEO of CircleDV. “CDV Wealth gives them the same control and freedom that people on land take for granted. It’s banking that travels with you.”
CDV Wealth is a first-of-its-kind financial tool that helps seafarers take charge of their finances with tools built for their world. This includes access to a multi-currency digital wallet, which can hold and convert up to 10 currencies and a Visa Platinum debit card, which can be used in more than 200 countries physically or online.
CDV Wealth transforms how seafarers manage their earnings, replacing restrictive traditional banking with strong financial mobility. Whether sending support to families in over 170 countries or receiving funds from anyone, seafarers enjoy the freedom to move money instantly and effortlessly across borders, ensuring their capital is as global as their career.
In addition, the CDV Wealth platform will be developed to expand payment convenience to ship owners and managers.
It will replace manual processes and cash handling with quick automated salary payments to crew, multi-currency payroll support with transparent FX rates and greater visibility of crew wages and vessel-level accounts using unified dashboards.
By digitalising wage and vessel-cash management, shipping companies can save time, reduce administrative errors, and strengthen financial control across fleets.
CDV Wealth has been developed in partnership with DBS Bank, which safeguards user funds, and Visa, which powers global card access.
“Making seafarer lives better makes business sense for the global shipping sector, and we are seeing huge interest in our value proposition, which is marrying our maritime sector knowledge with the best partners out there to create credible, compelling products that meet the very specific needs of this market,” said Wong.
Other partnerships within maritime technology are under development to bring exclusive perks to seafarers and expand functionality across existing ship and crew-management platforms.
The CDV Wealth App is available on Google Play and the App Store.
